Michael Görgens will take over as member of the Management Board of Boerse Stuttgart cats GmbH on 1 August 2018. He will succeed Rupertus Rothenhäuser, who is leaving the company at his own request to pursue a new career challenge. Michael Görgens will join Michael Jaeggi who has been a member of the board since 2017. Boerse Stuttgart GmbH acquired a majority stake in the cats off-exchange trading platform in 2014.
Michael Görgens (45) joined Boerse Stuttgart in 2003 and is currently responsible for bond trading as a managing director. He also was head of exchange-traded fund (ETF) trading until June 2018 In 2009, he oversaw the formation of the ETF Bestx quality segment. Since 2011 he has been working on the further development of debt instrument trading in response to ongoing structural changes in the market environment. Boerse Stuttgart now leads the German market in floor trading of ETFs, mutual funds and on exchange-based trading of corporate bonds.
Originally from Berlin, he worked in the capital market and primary business as well as a market maker for jumbo pfandbriefe (covered bonds) in interbank trading at Landesbank Berlin before joining Boerse Stuttgart. In 2016, to complement his banking apprenticeship and his studies at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management (formerly Bankakademie), he completed an Executive MBA in Switzerland with a focus on new business development. He is also a member of the Exchange Council of Baden-Wuerttembergische Wertpapierboerse and represents EUWAX AG at the International Capital Markets Association (ICMA).
